Mohammad Amir to Focus Entirely on Increasing His Bowling Speed

Mohammad Amir remained Pakistan’s premium bowler at the World Cup 2019 alongside Shaheen Shah Afridi. However, on dry wickets, Amir’s lack of serious pace was exposed.

While talking to Essex Cricket TV, Amir said that he remains hopeful that he can get back his pace and bowl fast.

Every fast-bowler strives to bowl at 90 miles per hour (mph). When you are getting wickets, you can focus on other things as well, so now I am focusing on increasing my speed.

The left-arm pacer added that he has played consistently for the past two to three years and hasn’t had enough time to work in the nets as his body was tired from excessive cricket.

However, now that Amir has found his rhythm again, he remains hopeful for a positive change.

I have been playing regular cricket for two to three years due to which my body got tired. However, I have finally gotten my rhythm back after working on my form and fitness.

Amir will represent Essex in the upcoming season of Vitality blast T20 and is focused on bowling economical spells.

Economy rate is more important than wickets in T20 cricket. If you are bowling dot balls, the wickets will eventually follow.

Amir will play first match for Essex against Middlesex on July 18 at the Lord’s Cricket Ground.
